When I was creating the first piece for Hill & Hague, I knew one thing for sure. I didn’t want to design “just another sweatshirt”.
Regular sweatshirts often feel… boring. I wanted something that still felt cozy and oversized, but looked more elevated and feminine at the same time. Something you could throw on during a slow morning, coffee run or travel day and still feel cute in.
This is how the Melrose Mockneck was born 🤭💕
What is a mockneck sweatshirt?
A mockneck sweatshirt is basically a sweatshirt with a slightly higher collar neckline. It gives outfits a more elevated and effortless look without sacrificing comfort.
The mockneck shape instantly creates that off-duty vibe we’ve been obsessed with lately:
- oversized but still flattering
- relaxed but put together
- minimal but stylish
And honestly? I love that it somehow makes a lazy outfit look intentional.
Why oversized mocknecks are trending
While oversized mocknecks are already huge in the US, I feel like Europe is only just starting to discover them 👀
You see them everywhere in American off-duty fashion because they’re:

- cozy without looking sloppy
- perfect year-round
- effortless with leggings, denim or biker shorts
